We follow the National Curriculum
Following the national curriculum means that your child will not be confused over the content and will be covering what they will require for their exams. We also extend our students by the use of more complex and challenging questions.
We use School Methods
Using methods and techniques that are used and implemented within schools means that there will be no confusion and disparities when our students at school. This will allow each pupil to flourish in their school environment and also increase their chances of moving up sets.
Having students coming to us from various exam boards, we work to include the content in all syllabuses to best prepare our students as a whole. Exposure to questions from other exam boards, however, is something we agree with, giving students the chance to approach different styles of questions and apply their skills to different scenarios. With our emphasis on achieving exam success, we set students past papers on a regular basis so they are comfortable with the style and content of examinations they will be sitting at the end of the year.
The style of lesson encourages an environment where it is okay to ask questions. We teach a lot of content but do allow time for students to attempt pieces of work independently. Furthermore we stretch and challenge our students and always have extension work at the ready!
Unique Resource Packs
With resource packs to accompany every lesson, we provide comprehensive notes that complement school learning and for revision. We provide plenty of worked examples that would be explained thoroughly by the class teacher. Furthermore, we always go through past exam questions and how best to tackle them.
Weekly homework that is contained in our unique resource packs are marked by our dedicated full-time tutors. We write detailed feedback outlining the grade of the homework as well as celebrating strengths and focussing on development points.
Dedicated full-time tutors
All of our fully trained, full-time tutors have subject specialist degrees in the subject they teach and have experience in being in a school environment. We are able to thoroughly mark and provide exceptional feedback by having tutors that work as part of a coherent team to deliver only the best service to our students. We take marking and providing feedback very seriously in the learning process and so we invest heavily in assuring a brilliant team of tutors with exceptional dedication.
Progress Updates and Constructive Feedback
At spark, we discuss with parents how their children are doing and always welcome meetings with parents to discuss their child’s progress. Our resources are marked weekly as well, so students know how they are doing, where to improve and what is expected of them. We work hard to provide weekly written feedback and believe in working with both parents and students to implement effective study habits. Furthermore, every week, your child will receive a mini progress report that provides informative feedback, including an academic grade, attitude to learning score and written suggestions on improvements.
Our mentoring scheme complements our classes and provides students with pastoral support. We believe that academia is not the only way to develop an individual and this holistic way of helping our students is very well received.
Our small class sizes
All our classes are kept small to ensure that the maximal amount of attention is delivered for you or your child. The maximum amount of children in classes up to GCSE is 11 and for A-level is 13.
