Parent Perspectives: Raves in our Reviews

In this week’s Parent Perspectives post, we thought we’d look somewhere a little different than usual. Many parents have been rating and posting reviews for Spark Academy for years – it’s time we celebrated their views!

Where can you rate and review?

Spark’s Facebook page is a perfect place for anyone looking to give us a rating or write a review. In fact, many parents have been doing just that! You might also know that we recently launched our Spark Forum. This is another amazing place where you can review or leave comments for the Spark team. You can even give us suggestions on how we could make Spark even better.

So now you know where you can go to rate, review and rave about us…

What sort of things have our parents been saying?

The first fantastic point we noticed when we looked at our Facebook reviews is that we have an amazing 5 star rating! This rating is averaged out over the years since our first Facebook review, which just goes to show that Spark is providing the same high quality tuition it has since opening.

Here are some highlights from our favourite reviews. It was tricky to choose from some many wonderful comments from our parents!

My boys will be joining this great teaching academy soon in January 2018. They will be working to their school level […] Spark Academy is far better – classroom based and a more professional set up.

P. S.

We strive to provide excellent tuition to support our students in their education, so it is always wonderful to hear that parents can see and appreciate everything we are doing!

The support has been priceless […] A designated time to study is key in getting excellent results. I knew I needed a great tutor service and was so pleased when Spark was recommended to me by a friend.

N. W.

Recommendations are another fantastic way so many of our parents review Spark. It’s great to hear that from their perspective, we’re so good they just can’t wait to tell others!

It’s clear to see the passion you have to teach and the desire to make every child a winner. I can’t fault anything you guys do. My kids love coming to Spark and they’re making great progress.

B. P.

Our small class sizes are key to our ability to make every child feel successful and vital to our lessons. And we’re always glad to hear our students enjoy coming to Spark!

How can you get involved?

If you’re a parent and you want to share your perspective on Spark, there are lots of ways to get involved. You can use our Facebook page, our Spark Forum, or you can comment on this post with your reviews!

Student Spotlight: Mirunalini Suthan

Spotlight On…

It’s time for another Spotlight post! This week we’ve been catching up with another of Mital’s former students, Mirunalini Suthan to see how she’s been doing.

What subjects did you study when you were here?

I studied Chemistry A-level at Spark.

Why did you choose to study with Spark instead of anywhere else?

The centre was recommended by a family friend to us. Spark was also the only tuition centre which offered chemistry for A-level pupils from the many others I looked up.

What did you enjoy most while you were attending your tuition lessons?

I attended taster sessions there and really liked the environment and teaching style. The environment was friendly and comfortable which allowed to ask as many questions and I needed to until I fully understood the topic. I also liked the fact that we were given booklets that were specific to each topic with questions in them so that we could practise them. This was very useful as it helped to not become intimidated by the questions and style of questions.

What are you doing now?

I have been accepted by the University of Hull to study the course I wanted (Geology with Physical Geography (Bsc) )

Do you feel like Spark helped you to achieve what you wanted to achieve?

Spark was very helpful as going there gave me the drive and motivation to keep pushing myself to do even better than I did before. I gained a lot of knowledge and skills in terms of answering questions. My level of confidence and attitude towards answering questions has change and improved significantly. Now I’m not intimidated by harder questions or afraid to answer them. I am also proud to say that I am no longer embarrassed when not knowing the correct answer to a question or asking for extra help. This is a big achievement for me as that feeling of embarrassment has been a very large hurdle for me to pass for these past few years, it was something I’ve never thought I could do.

What advice would you give students currently at Spark?

The only piece of advice I would give to current students is that they should give 100% of their effort when learning and to never ever feel embarrassed to ask for extra help. Asking for extra help does not make you less intelligent than others in your class. It will all be worth it and it will definitely help you in the long run.

Student Spotlight: Eren Mirza

Spotlight On…

At Spark, our goal is not just to help our students with their immediate academic goals. Our aim is to help them develop and plan for their futures. We like to keep in touch with our Alumni so we can hear about all of their successes. We thought you might also be interested in hearing a little about what they have to say.

So, that’s why we thought we’d ask a few of our Alumni to be in our Spotlight. They’ve taken the time to answer a few questions about their time at Spark. This week we’ve been catching up with Eren Mirza…

Which subjects did you study and in what years?

I started Spark Academy midway through my GCSE’s to aid me in Science, and continued with tuition for Chemistry for my A-levels.

Why did you choose to study with Spark?

I chose to study with Spark mainly because the classes had a warm feel to them; light-hearted and fun, making it much easier to ask questions when I was confused about the more complex topics.

What was your favourite part of studying with us?

My favourite part about studying with Spark would have to be… Mital! That’s because having a teacher who is easily approachable and comfortable to talk to was essential for me. Needing a tutor in the first place was a sign that I found it difficult to get help in school when I needed it. A friendly tutor really made the classes more enjoyable.

What are you doing now?

I’m currently studying Chemistry at the University of York and have just finished my first year there.

Do you feel like Spark helped you to achieve what you wanted to achieve?

Definitely! I’ve always wanted to pursue a degree in science but Spark Academy certainly gave me a push for Chemistry, it was especially helpful to have feedback on my personal statement during application times.

What advice would you give students currently at Spark?

My advice to current students would be to make your notes interesting! Whether it be in school or when you’re being tutored, ultimately the work will be as entertaining as you want it to be. Whether it be sketches, posters or songs try and vary it up a little and you’ll find even Half Cell Redox Equations have a fun side to them.
