Mital (Founder, CEO, Teacher and Pizza Lover)
As the passionate creator of Spark Academy, Mital spends her every waking moment at Spark HQ to ensure we are offering the best quality education for our students. With a self-proclaimed grunt when she laughs, she is sure to entertain her classes whilst providing them with her expert knowledge in Science. Having studied Pharmacology at the University of Leicester, and then obtaining her PGCE at the University of Nottingham, she has a detailed understanding of all parts of the curriculum and has had many years of spreading her wealth of knowledge on students.
Nidhi (Chief Happiness Operator, Lover of Noodles)
Our smiley, bubbly Nidhi is your first point of call and is responsible for co-ordinating free taster sessions, as well as making sure you’re happy with all things Spark. If you have any enquiries, want progress updates or want to get in touch with a teacher, Nidhi’s got it all under wraps.
Rebecca (Head of English, Cheese Addict)
Our incredibly creative and passionate Rebecca is the dedicated English Lead. With a degree in English Language and Literature, as well as a Masters in English Literature from the University of Nottingham, Rebecca is always enthusiastic about analysing and understanding the deeper meaning behind text. These are the skills Rebecca brings out in her students at Spark Academy.
Nicola (Head of Science, Lasagne Lover)
Nicola is super passionate about all things Maths and Physics. Having obtained a degree in Physics with Astrophysics from the University of Leicester and completing her PGCE, Nicola worked as a full-time teacher in a Leicestershire school for numerous years. As a head of year in her previous school, Nicola is keen to increase the depth of students’ wider knowledge around the curriculum to enhance the learning experience and make Science and Maths relevant to the world we live in.
Chris (Maths Teacher, Sushi Lover)
Chris is our very own resource creator who has a large interest in setting questions that are catered for all ability levels. With his eye for detail and reflective nature, Chris is keen to ensure that the maths curriculum is up to date and up to standard. Chris’s enthusiastic and optimistic attitude to learning Maths has led to his A-level classes flourishing under his wing.
Charlotte (English Teacher, Chocolate Addict)
Previously Charlotte had devised her own reading programme in local schools which encouraged young children that has English as an Additional Language to be more adept and fluent readers. Teaching mainly GCSE English literature and language students, Charlotte lives for the ‘light bulb’ moments when children begin to grasp difficult concepts and is keen to develop students’ deeper analytical and reflective skills in English.
Gemma (Head Teacher, Vinegary Chips Fan)
As the enthusiastic and dedicated Head Teacher of Spark Academy, Gemma’s teaching career has spanned over ten years. She is in charge of all the Teaching & Learning activities at Spark Academy and is your go-to person if you are worried about your child’s progress or would like to have an update. As an avid biologist, Gemma is keen on sharing her passion and endures to support young people to achieve their potential, whatever their ability and excel their confidence.
Katherine (Head of Maths, Lasagne Lover)
Previously Katherine taught Maths in schools such as Martin High and Kibworth. Incredibly passionate, Katherine is most driven by seeing her students reach their potential and gain great results through improving their confidence. With her passion for making Maths fun, exciting and also accessible for all types of learners, Katherine engages her class through the range of activities set through Spark Academy’s very own bespoke resources.
Barbara (School Liaison Officer, Paneer Pizza Lover)
Barbara’s previous work included working as an inclusion Barbara has worked in education for over ten years in various roles. Her roles began in the science department, where she worked as a Senior Science Technician for six years. More recently, Barbara also worked as an Inclusion Officer for four years. This involved running an alternative classroom for students with various emotional, physical and behavioural needs. Barbara has previously worked closely with pupil premium students and vulnerable students. She supported these students with struggles in their school and home lives. She now liases with schools for Spark Academy’s popular pupil premium projects.
